MCE PTA won the

National PTA Family Reading Experience Grant!

WSPTA is proud to announce that out of 25 grants that were distributed across the country, TWO of those 25 went to PTA's in Washington State-- one of those being Mill Creek Elementary PTA!!!

Each recipient was given $1,000 each, sponsored by Office Depot, to implement the National PTA Family Reading Experience program to connect within their school communities. The goal of the program is to help families support their child’s development of literacy skills and encourage a love of reading through access to books, particularly those that reflect the diversity of our world. A total of 25 grants were distributed across the country.

Here is how MCE plans to use the Reading Experience Grant in 2021-2022:

• The goal of the grant is to encourage a love of reading with students and families
• We will use the grant funds to purchase inclusive books for MCE classrooms
• We will utilize our MCE PTA YouTube Channel asking fellow families to do a read aloud
• We will also be participating in the AquaSox “Hit a Home Run in Reading” incentive program where students can earn weekly prizes for hitting predetermined reading goals.
