Mill Creek PTA Events and Programs
Throughout the school year MCE PTA hosts many one-time events, as well as ongoing events and programs at school. All of these events and programs are also listed on our calendar. It takes an army of volunteers to put on these events and we are always looking for extra help in some manner. If you are interested in volunteering at any of these one-time or recurring events please create an account and register on this site by clicking here. If you have already created an account please click on the Volunteer tab within your account page upon logging in.
The Kindergarten Playdate is open to all incoming kindergarten families and their students. Meet other kindergarten students and find familiar faces among the crowd! The PTA will be hosting this event so you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the MCE PTA. The kindergarten teachers will also be there so you can meet your student's new teacher. Generally held the Thursday before the first day of school, at the MCE playground.
Cookies and Crafts (December)
Join us as we make holiday crafts that can also be given as gifts to family and friends. We will also have cookies to munch on as we create crafts. This is a popular event for all students.
Put the kids in their jammies, bring along pillows and blankets, and cozy up on the cafeteria floor. Students will vote to decide which movie we will show on the big screen.
Dads and Donuts (March)
This is a BIG event! In the morning before school school, students arrive in the cafeteria to enjoy breakfast items, read books, and hang out with Dad/Grandpa/Uncle/Guardian.
Morning with Mom (May):
We have a special morning planned for moms and students just before Mother's Day. Students and Mom/Grandma/Auntie/Guardian will enjoy breakfast treats, warm drinks, and quality time together. Dads, volunteer your time to help serve these special ladies!
Student/Classroom Enrichment Activities
Science Day: Late January
Each year, the Mill Creek PTA organizes and hosts an amazing Science Extravaganza for all students at Mill Creek Elementary. This is a FULL day filled with hands-on science presentations and labs, which allow the students to broaden their knowledge and experiences into areas they may have never thought of or heard about. Please visit the Science Day page to learn more about this event.
Art of the Masters (Art Docent): 6 week program beginning in the Winter
The Art of the Masters docent program was developed by Mary Wiggins to help parents and school community members be involved in bringing the joy of art to children in the classroom. To learn more about this program or if you are interested in volunteering please visit our Art of the Masters page.
Junior Achievement: 5 week program beginning in the winter
Junior Achievement (JA) is a nonprofit organization that provides a series of business, economics and life-skills programs to enhance the education of young people. MCE PTA purchases the JA program every year for Mill Creek Elementary. We rely on parent volunteers to present this program to each classroom of students at MCE. This is a fun and rewarding program that each and every student truly enjoys. The JA program is easy to follow and all of the information is given to you ahead of time so you can prepare your lessons. Preparations before each lesson should take no more than 20-30 mins and you are given everything you need in order to teach the lessons.
If you are interested in teaching the JA program to your student's class, or another class at MCE, please send an email to JA@mcepta.org. We need 1 parent volunteer per classroom.
Cougar P.A.W.W.S. (Parents Actively Working With Students): All year
Cougar P.A.W.W.S. is our unique Mill Creek Elementary parent volunteer program. It is designed to provide positive role models for students and to enhance our school security.
Who are Cougar P.A.W.W.S.? Parents, grandparents, or relatives that would like to volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by our school's office staff. You can volunteer for an entire school day or a half day, whatever works with your schedule. You will be able to spend time in your student's classroom and outside at recess.

Cougar Movers: Friday mornings, 8:15-9am
Does your student like to walk, skip or run? If so, they would enjoy participating in our Cougar Movers program that takes place every Friday morning, rain or shine! Please visit our Cougar Movers page to learn more about this program.
Garden Club: Meets one Friday per month, 11:30am - 1:30pm
The Garden Club at Mill Creek Elementary is hosted and run by the PTA. It provides students, K-5, with outdoor learning experiences that take place during their lunch time on Fridays, either monthly or bi-monthly. When children come to Garden Club they may take part in a variety of gardening activities, which have in the past included maintaining the courtyard beds, planting seeds, and learning about container design.
Popcorn Fridays: One Friday per month, during lunch recess
Nearly every Mill Creek student LOVES popcorn Friday! One Friday per month the PTA gives popcorn at lunch recess to every student in the cafeteria. This year we are asking for a $2 donation per student to cover the cost of popcorn for the year, no more quarters! You can make your donation online or send $2 at the beginning of the school to school with your student. Our popcorn schedule is listed on the calendar. We are always looking for additional volunteers to help pop the corn and to sell it. If you are interested in helping, please email email@example.com.
Cougar Pride Wednesdays: Every Wednesday
Join us every Wednesday as we celebrate our COUGAR pride by wearing our spirit wear! If you haven't yet purchased an MCE spirit wear t-shirt or sweatshirt please visit our spirit wear partner, Making It Happen.
The Cougar Craze is Mill Creek Elementary’s main fundraising event in the Fall. The Cougar Craze enables the school community to participate in raising money to support enriching learning experiences at MCE. Students request donations from family, friends and neighbors. Once the donations are collected, the students participate in a fun-filled afternoon of physical activity. We are confident that we can reach our fundraising goal of $30,000 this year for the Cougar Craze and are overjoyed when we see the learning opportunities that these funds enable for the students.
Dine out for PTA
Join us this year as we Dine out for PTA! We have partnered with local restaurants who support our PTA by donating back a percentage of the bill to MCE PTA. This is a fun and easy way to support the PTA and the many programs we bring to your students each year. For more information regarding dates and locations please visit our Dine out for PTA page!
