WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for students and to enhance school security. Today, more than 2,811 active programs in 46 states participate in the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program.

Who are Watch D.O.G.S.?  Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by our school's office staff.  You can volunteer for an entire school day or a half day, whatever works with your schedule.  You will receive a schedule from our office staff in the morning detailing your day.  You will be able to spend time in your student's classroom as well as other classrooms and outside at recess.

For more information on the national WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program please visit their website.

Mill Creek Elementary is looking for fathers, grandfathers, uncles or other father figures to be a part of their student’s educational success. Here is your opportunity to make a difference!

Program Goals

1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by your presence that education is important.

2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

3)  Have 75% of the school days represented by a WatchDOG

How WATCH D.O.G.S. Works:

  • Sign up in advance for each shift that is either all day (9am to 3:30pm) or half day (9am through lunch or lunch through 3:30pm)
  • Each WatchDOG volunteer will:
    • Assist your child(ren)’s teacher in his/her classroom
    • Eat lunch with your child(ren)
    • Play at recess with your child(ren) and monitor the playground
  • Each WatchDOG may also be asked to monitor the school entrance, assist with traffic flow in the parking lot, and help in other classrooms.
  • You must complete a background check by the Everett School District at http://www.everettsd.org/domain/1452.  This can take 2-3 weeks to complete, so please do this as soon as possible.
